Lodz, Piotrkowska

Lodz, is the second largest city in Poland with about 900 tys. people. It received city rights more than 500 years ago. The picture shows the main street with many beautiful XIXth/early XXth century buildings. The street called Piotrkowska, and also known as "Pietryna", has been renovated in recent years, and closed to the motorized traffic. Plenty of cafe's, restaurants, bars, and pubs are opening (and re-opening after they have been closed under comunists). Piotrkowska becomes one of the most lively streets in Poland.
